In Fort Collins, police had to rescue 50+ cats and kittens that had been abandoned in a foreclosed home. The cats had different levels of heath and were living in really horrible conditions.
The number of cats and kittens from the home nearly doubles the number of homeless cats and kittens entrusted to the humane society and puts the shelter close to capacity for felines.
“It is our policy, as an open door shelter, never to turn an animal away,” said Judy Calhoun, executive director. “At times like this, with the hoarding situation in Fort Collins, we feel the strain both financially and emotionally. Now, more than ever, we need the community’s support to find placement for these fabulous felines.”
